In the 4th full paragraph of the answer, you state that Illinos rejected the FLSA's allowance for disciplinary suspensions for "violation of workplace rules". However, in the first bulleted paragraph following full paragraph 5, you state that Illinois employers can suspend exempt employees for a full week. Can those suspensions of a week's duration be for violation of workplace rules (i.e., is the statement highlighted from paragraph 4 only meant to apply to suspensions of less than a week's duration?). Thanks.

That is correct. Under the "white collar" exemptions, an exempt employee must receive full salary for any week in which they perform any work, with certain limited exceptions as discussed in the post. However, an exempt employee who performs no work during the workweek, regardless of the reason, does not have to be paid for the week.
